Book description
This volume is an introduction to the foundations of Buddhist psychology. It provides comprehensive coverage of the basic concepts and issues in the psychology of Buddhism and thus it deals with the nature of psychological inquiry, concepts of mind, consciousness and behaviour, motivation, emotions and percentile and the therapeutic structure of Buddhist psychology. For this edition, a new chapter on the mind body relationship and Buddhist contextualism has been added.
About the Author
Professor Padmasiri de Silva is a Research Fellow in the Department of History at Monash University. Before coming to Monash Professor de Silva was Head of the Philosophy and Psychology Department at the University of Peradeniya in Sri Lanka. His publications include Environmental Philosophy and Ethics in Buddhism (1998), Buddhist and Freudian Psychology (1992), and Twin Peaks: Compassion and Insight (1991).
