This collection draws together a number of essays, presented by young scholars of medieval and Renaissance studies from Monash University, at the 1996 International Medieval Congress at Leeds.

About the Authors

Dr. Peter Howard is a senior lecturer in the Department of History at Monash University. His research interests lie in medieval European history, renaissance Italy and in the intellectual history of Christianity. Dr. Howard has held fellowships at the European University Institute, Florence, and at 'Villa I Tatti': the Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies.

Cynthia Troup is a undertaking doctoral studies in the School of Historical Studies at Monash University. She has also been involved in the teaching of European and Italian Renaissance history.
