Last stop before Antarctica : the bible and postcolonialism in
Australia Roland Boer Published by Sheffield Academic Press (2001) |
Book description
Roland Boer seeks a presence for the Bible in postcolonial criticism through a series of forays, casting a sharp eye over questions such as
globalization, exploitation, exodus, exile, home, identity, essentialism, translation and opposition.
The book covers theoretical literature on post colonialism, the Bible, explorer journals, hybrid
fiction and indigenous language, all with a focus on Australia. It closes by reflecting on the
strange dialectic whereby the Bible itself has a distinct role in the production of
post colonialism.
