Book description
In 1996 the community of Wyndham, located in Melbourne's west, discovered that the Australian multinational CSR Ltd was planning to establish a major toxic waste facility in their back yard - with the backing of the Jeff Kennett-led Victorian State government.

No Toxic Dump! is an inspirational case study of the community's lengthy and ultimately successful campaign against the proposed dump. By adopting a strategy which went beyond the notion of 'Not in My Back Yard' (NIMBY), the Wyndham community effected significant changes to Victoria's public policy on industrial waste management.

The Wyndham community's grassroots struggle promises to ensure that their victory does not become another community's burden. [Pluto Press Australia]
