Book description
An edition of the 206 surviving letters of the Bolognese literary figure, with introductory chapters which explore Arienti’s relationships with his Estense patrons, as well as his membership of an elaborate news gathering network orchestrated by the Florentine, Benedetto Dei. The letters offer a rare glimpse of Bologna in the last phase of Bentivoglio rule as well of as Italy more generally during the unstable last years of the Quattrocento and the first decade of the Cinquecento.Leo S. Olschki]
