This new book examines and explains changes in the way police forces in Australia and New Zealand deal with industrial disputes and picket lines. The book draws on a number of important and high profile case studies, including the precedent-setting Burnie paper mill dispute, the infamous Melbourne dockside dispute, the Richmond Secondary College baton 'charge', and the Lyttelton picket legal aspects of modern industrial confrontation and the practical issues involved.

About the author
Dr David Baker is Head of Criminal Justice and Criminology at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia. His major research interests include public order policing and comparative and historical policing.
