Book description
This textbook has been written for introductory undergraduate courses in Engineering Design. The early chapters concentrate on techniques for approaching design problems: their formulation, their plausible conceptual solutions, and their rational analyses. The next chapters cover the basic manufacturing technologies, and the design features that match those technologies. the final chapters describe the graphical and written communication conventions used by engineering designers. Appendices contain worked examples and data to assist in the economical design of simple machines.
