Book description
Childhood obesity, as the media constantly covers, is an
increasing concern in Australian society. While debate continues about
whether this is solely a parent responsibility or whether government should
legislate bans on junk food in schools, the fact remains that as teachers we
have a responsibility to provide our students with an environment that
maximises learning potential. Students cannot be expected to
concentrate on learning if they are hungry, poorly nourished, dehydrated or
lacking in energy; or if they feel scared, worried or isolated.
The book is divided into four sections which cover the organisational
issues, teaching students why and how to be healthy, healthy practices
everyday, and cross-curricular activities.
