This is the most comprehensive study of East Timor since independence, examining the major themes of development, borders and security, politics and justice, resource and land management, education, and language policy. About the author
Damien Kingsbury is an associate professor in the School of International and Political Studies and is Directory of the Masters in International and Community Development at Deakin University, Geelong, Australia. He remains a regular visitor to East Timor.
Michael Leach is a resear4ch fellow in the Institute for Citizenship and Globalisation at Deakin University, Melbourne, Australia, and has published a number of journal articles on East Timorese history and politics.
