Book description
The relationship between business and government is often
portrayed as highly conflictual, with businesses and states holding quite
different views of the world and each other's role in it. But
government needs business to deliver wealth and economic growth, while
business needs government to provide economic, legal and physical
infrastructure.
The globalizing trends of recent years have transformed many aspects of
economic and political life - if not as radically as has sometimes been
argued. Business, Government and Globalisation provides a sober
assessment of the evolving relationship between business and government.
While it is often assumed that globalisation has curtailed the capacity of
the nation-state, the authors conclude that both business and government are
increasingly responsive to the changed international environment and that,
overall, a globalising world presents opportunities for government and
business to forge a more effective partnership.
