Book description
The introduction of day surgery has been a major development in
gynaecology during recent years. With the advent of new techniques for
operative laparoscopy and hysteroscopy, many gynaecological operations can
now be undertaken in a day surgery leading to a significant reduction in
associated costs. However, the selection of appropriate patients for
effective day surgery is still in its infancy. This unique book goes
beyond conventional texts on the various techniques involved in minimally
invasive gynaecological surgery to describe what effective day surgery
actually means, how it should be organised, and what constitutes future
directions in day surgery for women - the evidence-based approach. The
authors draw on their combined experience of working in gynaecological day
surgery over the last five years, both in the setting of a major hospital
and in an independent gynaecological day surgery unit. The book will
be an invaluable reference for gynaecologists, anesthetists and theatre
nurses working in this field and will also be of interest to audit and
accreditation staff involved in modern healthcare management.
