Book description
This book is a result of many years researching for the author's doctoral thesis.  However, the initial intention to write about women and revolution in the late 18th and early 19th century was transformed by stages into the study of tragedy, enlightenment and the figure of woman in European drama between Racine and Ibsen during the course of the research.  As a result, the book is considerably more complex and manifests a high degree of methodological heterogeneity, interweaving such diverse forms of analysis as the theory of tragedy, critical social theory, literary analysis, women's history and feminist theory.
