Group study space

The upper floor of the Gippsland Library has been redeveloped to provide a modern flexible learning space, technologically enabled and adaptable.

Personal study, peer collaboration and student-library staff interaction will be supported in the experimental new space.

The redevelopment was funded by the DVC (Education) portfolio - eEducation Centre and the Library - and is a continuation of Monash University Library’s ongoing efforts to respond to changing teaching and learning styles.

The space has clearly delineated zones for:

  • presenting with Smartboard, projectors and video conferencing facilities
  • collaboration between students with glass writing panels, printing and photocopying
  • laptop users, with special tub chairs and extra power points (accessed from floor boxes)
  • booths with plasma monitors for laptop PCs.

The new group study space celebrates light and space and incorporates environmentally friendly features like skylights and timber louvres which were funded by The Office of Environment and Sustainability.
