Parliamentary papers

Parliamentary papers are documents placed before parliament and ordered to be printed. They may be annual reports of government departments, all the papers associated with the budget, reports of committees, royal commissions, committees of inquiry, Ombudsman's reports, Ministerial policy statements, Green and White papers etc.

Papers are given a parliamentary paper number when tabled in parliament. (Only a small number of government reports are actually tabled). The Library used to receive these papers as they were printed, but now only receives them at the end of a Parliamentary session as a complete bound set.
