Laws made by Parliament (ie legislation) consist of:

  • Acts (also known as statutes)
  • Subordinate and delegated legislation (also known as regulations, rules, by-laws and orders)
  • Bills (the form taken before an Act has been passed)

Lawlex database is a portal to laws from all Australian jurisdictions.

Victorian Legislation and Parliamentary Documents, from the Office of the Chief Parliamentary Counsel, provides online access to Victorian legislation.

  • Select Victorian Law Today to access all consolidated Principal Victorian Acts and Statutory Rules as in force, at a given point in time.
  • Select Victorian Statute Book to access from 1851 to current Acts as passed, and Statutory Rules from 1996 to current.
  • Select Parliamentary Documents to access Bills under consideration and House Documents of the Parliament of Victoria, including Explanatory Memoranda and 2nd Reading Speeches.
