Notes: Photographer John Marco Allegro (1923-1988) took hundreds of photographs during his visits to the Middle East. This collection includes 1470 photographs, both colour slides and black and white negatives. These are associated with Khirbel-Qumran and the texts discovered there, as well as those associated with other places, such as Ain Feshkha, Khirbet Mird, and Wadi Murabbaat. The photographs are arranged in four categories: A) Archaeology; B) Biography (black and white images of Allegro's colour slides which depict people associated with the scroll); C) Copper Scroll (colour slides of the Copper Scroll) ; and D) Document (colour slides of Documents).
