Notes:  The British Broadcasting Corporation set up its Monitoring Service in 1939, at the request of the British Government, to provide information from open-band foreign broadcasts, whether in voice or morse.

The publications aim at providing a representative sample of the material monitored, including major broadcasts and those containing information of value according to the criteria established at the time.

The material includes official war communiqués, news reports, speeches etc.

B.B.C. summaries were issued daily and weekly on four geographic areas : the Soviet Union, Eastern Europe, the Far East and the Middle East and Africa.  Broadcasts are grouped by country and subject.
