1687 extra journal titles now accessible

Since 2003 began the library has successfully finalised negotiations to increase the range of online journals available to Monash staff and students by an extra 1687 titles.

Newly accessible journal titles cover all faculty areas and are available on and off campus in Australia and from overseas campuses.

Titles include:

Science Direct
The library has negotiated online access to the very popular Elsevier’s Science Direct for a further three years. The number of full text journals available to staff and students has been increased by 574 to 1324 at no extra cost in 2003.

Kluwer journals
The library has entered into a consortium with other Group of Eight libraries to obtain online access to all journals published by Kluwer. This deal enables the library to offer online access to all 748 Kluwer journals for the same price previously paid for print subscriptions to 110 titles.

Wiley journals
Monash this year joined the Council of Australian University Librarians (CAUL) consortium offer for all journals published by Wiley. This has provided access to 262 new Wiley titles for an additional cost of $30,000. All Wiley journals are now available online.

Oxford University Press journals
The range of Oxford University Press online journals has been extended by 80 titles for an additional $9000 by joining the CAUL consortium offer. Previously the library paid extra per title for a limited number of its print titles for multi-campus online access, but otherwise had no online access.

Blackwell Publishing Humanities & Social Sciences Collection
Monash University Library previously had 160 titles with access from within Australia only. This has now been increased to 293 titles for any registered Monash user world-wide.

OECD publications
All OECD publications are now available online. Print coverage was incomplete, and has now been cancelled to pay for online access.

These titles can be accessed via the faculty electronic journals pages on the website, via links in the Voyager catalogue or from the library databases page.
