Hot off the ePress! - first titles now online |
||
| Monash University ePress, Monash's first electronic press, published its first two online titles on 30 November. The titles are The Bible and Critical Theory, edited by Dr Roland Boer, Logan Fellow at Monash's Centre for Studies in Religion and Theology, and History Australia, edited by Professor Marian Quartly from the School of Historical Studies. The manager of ePress, Ms Michele Sabto, said the titles were the first of several planned for publication over the next 12 months, covering the humanities and social sciences fields. " The Bible and Critical Theory is an innovative and exploratory scholarly journal that explores the intersections between critical theory and biblical studies, while History Australia carries fully refereed articles on all aspects of Australian historical research," she said. "While the focus will be on publishing electronic journals in under-served and emerging disciplines, ePress will also publish selected monographs and conference proceedings." Ms Sabto said free online access to ePress publications is available to Monash staff and the public until March 2005, after which ePress content will be available via subscription or on a per-article basis. The official launch of the ePress will be in mid-March 2005, when two additional titles will be published online. The next two titles are Applied GIS journal, which will include articles on specific applications of geographic information systems within a wide range of environmental and social science contexts, and Melbourne 2030, which will analyse the Bracks government plan to accommodate an additional one million people in Melbourne by 2030. Monash University ePress was established in 2003 to streamline and promote academic publishing. Material is currently being commissioned for publication.
