Monash students access Visual History Archive

Monash students and staff now have immediate access from the Library’s website to the Australian testimonies in the Visual History Archive of the University of Southern California Shoah Foundation Institute for Visual History and Education.  Students of HSY2580The Holocaust have already started to make good use of the Archive for a current assignment.

With a collection of nearly 52,000 video testimonies of Holocaust survivors and other witnesses, in 32 languages and from 56 countries, this is the largest visual history archive in the world. Since March 2007, more than 2,000 interviews recorded in Australia are stored electronically at Monash University and are immediately available for teaching and research. Users can access all other interviews within 48 hours of their request. This access is made possible through the generous support of Lee Liberman and the Pratt Foundation.

Members of the general public are able to access the Archive using the visitor’s workstation at each of the Monash University Library branches.
