Library acquires Scopus- a major tool for science and medicine |
||
For students of science, technology and medicine, Scopus is an easy to use source of peer-reviewed literature and quality web sources. Entering the common words “heart attack” and “stress”, for example, quickly brings up a list of citations of the latest research into this topic. Abstracts of articles are provided and links to full-text given where available. Scopus is also the largest database of its type. Scopus is available from the Library databases page. Academic staff and postgraduate students will find that Scopus offers valuable tools including citation tracking, for example, which allows academics to track key articles in an area of expertise and so maintain awareness of developments in the field. Alternatively, a researcher can arrange for a particular Scopus search to happen automatically every week and be sent to him or her as an RSS feed. Scopus will assist Monash researchers to demonstrate the quality and impact of their own research by identifying citations to their own work in the 15,000 titles indexed in Scopus. A major breakthrough is the incorporation of an “author affiliation” field, so that work by one author can be distinguished from work by other authors with the same name. 29 May 2007 current news : 2008 : 2007 : 2006 : 2005 : 2004 : 2003 : 2002 : pre-2002 Ask a question Phone +61 3 9905 5054 or use our enquiry services ask.monash for Monash students and staff | ask.monash for visitors and alumni. |
