Library welcome for Sichuan University delegates |

| The visiting delegation of senior staff from Sichuan University, China, was welcomed and given a tour of the Asian Studies Research Collection and the Hargrave-Andrew Library by University Librarian Cathrine Harboe-Ree. The Library visit was part of the delegates’ three-week Deans Leadership Training Program at Monash University organised to assist in the establishment of joint research and education programs under a cooperative agreement between the two universities. Ms Harboe-Ree and Mr Hueimin Chen, Asian Studies Assistant, addressed the delegation with a presentation about the Monash University Library and its support services to research, education and off-campus learning. Professor Ping Lin, Deputy Director of the Sichuan University Library, is spending four days visiting the Library and will make a presentation about the Sichuan University Library. The tour of the Hargrave-Andrew Library introduced the visitors to the use of an open-plan layout to create an environment more conducive and adaptive to changing study styles. Most of them were impressed by the new concept and took a lot of pictures of the library. The learning and teaching support services also gave the delegates an understanding and appreciation of the broadening role of the Library. Another highlight of the Library visit was a donation of new books in comparative literature made by Professor Shunqing Cao, Dean of the School of Literature and Journalism at Sichuan University.
