Electronic resources leader at the forefront |
||
|
In the year 2007, 50 % of library acquisitions were electronic resources rather than books or print serials. In 2006, 44% were electronic. This trend is likely to continue with the increased popularity among staff and students of electronic journal articles and as e-books become more available. The University’s research focus is supported by the provision of specialist online databases which allow researchers in a myriad of fields to keep up to date with the latest developments. The Library has appointed a new Manager, Electronic Resources, to oversee provision of these services to library users. Donna Runner brings to the role five years of experience as digital environment manager at Deakin University. She joined Monash two years ago as the document delivery librarian. Donna’s extensive experience in libraries in Australia and overseas is supported by her academic qualifications, which include a Master of Professional Education and Training. The Library is currently investigating the implementation of an e-resource management system as a module of the integrated library management system. This will make it easier to provide information to users of electronic resources and to respond more quickly to requests. 10 September 2008 current news : 2008 : 2007 : 2006 : 2005 : 2004 : 2003 : 2002 : pre-2002 Ask a question Phone +61 3 9905 5054 or use our enquiry services ask.monash for Monash students and staff | ask.monash for visitors, or online chat. |
