Honours loans extended

The Library has extended the privileges it offers for honours students, in support of the University’s honours initiatives.

From 2009, honours students can borrow up to 40 items, in line with postgraduate higher degree by research (HDR) students and academic staff.

Generally the items can be borrowed for up to 28 days and renewed up to six times.

Support for the honours component of undergraduate degrees has been boosted as part of the University's Passport Program.  Honours programs are seen as providing both greater employment opportunities for graduates and a pathway to an academic career.

In placing a greater focus on honours, the University is aiming to increase the percentage of students undertaking honours from three to five per cent, increase the range of honours programs, and look at other ways of providing a special experience for honours students.
