New document delivery system launched

Monash University Library offers a document delivery service to provide postgraduate students and staff with material to supplement the collection.

The Library has now moved to a new system that offers key new features and benefits to eligible users.

A new online request form stores personal information and preferences as defaults, thus saving the user from manual entry or re-keying of data. It also allows user comments to be attached to the request to be read by document delivery processing staff.

The request form is accessible from the catalogue home page as well as from databases via “Check for Full text” links.

Users will now be able to receive confirmation of requests, track their progress and obtain a summary of all their requests. This functionality is available from the online request form.

However, the new system is not fully integrated with the catalogue so that it is not able to pre-populate the form from a catalogue search. The Library is looking to incorporate this in future catalogue enhancements.
