Library reports significant contribution made in 2008 |

The reopening of the expanded and refurbished Pharmacy Library at the Parkville campus was a highlight in 2008, as reported in the Monash University Library Annual Report 2008. The report reveals that in 2008 over $16 million was spent on developing collections, 56% of which was for electronic resources. Over 7 million transactions were logged by users on electronic resources. Despite the fact that these electronic resources are available anywhere anytime to Monash staff and students, the report confirms that using Library facilities continues to be a popular option, with visits to the library branches increasing by 4.9 % on figures for 2007, to over 3.6 million for the year. The Library is supporting the management of research data and the new Research Data Management Coordinator position, thought to be the first such appointment in an Australian library, is a key strategy in this area. Monash University led the ANDS Establishment Project, in collaboration with the Australian National University (ANU) and CSIRO, and is continuing its lead role as ANDS (Australian National Data Service) commences its activities. The Learning Skills Unit operated for its first full year as a Library service in 2008. Information literacy and learning skills were developed and implemented in partnership with all faculties. The full Annual Report can be seen on the Library website. 18 June 2009 current news : 2008 : 2007 : 2006 : 2005 : 2004 : 2003 : 2002 : pre-2002 Ask a question Phone +61 3 9905 5054 or use our enquiry services ask.monash for Monash students and staff | ask.monash for visitors, or online chat. |
