Recommendations service on trial

A new service has been launched, the bX recommender service, which assists library users in discovering scholarly articles of potential interest.

This service is based on actual usage. If available, you can see the recommendations embedded in the SFX (Check for full text) menu window, under the heading of "Users interested in this article also expressed an interest in the following".

The SFX menu window opens when a user selects the SFX button button appearing against a citation in a database. This menu window also provides users with options to find a full text version of an article.

Similar recommendations, based on user’s choices, are common on ecommerce sites like Amazon, and have been developed for library books. The bX recommender project is an attempt to provide the same kind of service for scholarly articles. The Library is involved in testing this new cutting edge service on behalf of the developers.
