Library improvements for fresh start to semester

Welcome to new students and welcome back for second semester for all continuing students.

The following changes over the semester break may be of interest:

  • Access to more library area as part of the Annexe section of Sir Louis Matheson Library means increased accommodation for extended hours study at Clayton. The popular West Reading Room is part of the expanded area which accommodates quiet study as well as laptops. Check the Annexe’s opening hours on the Library website.

  • Student computers at all branches have been upgraded to Microsoft Office 2007 and software has been installed which students can use to improve their academic listening and speaking skills (EASE Learning Tools).

  • Peninsula Library has introduced an open holds and browsable reserve so that students no longer have to queue for reserve items or to collect holds.

  • Students at Hargrave-Andrew Library will have access to the services of a support person from Information Technology Services (ITS) for the first three weeks of semester. The ITS staff member will assist with password, wireless and other technical queries. ITS help is also available at Berwick Library and Learning Commons and at the Matheson Library.

  • Feedback given through the recent Library Users Survey has led to a redesign for the Library home page. Key improvements include a more seamless way of sending feedback via ask.monash as well as the ability to log in directly to the my.monash portal.
