Learning skills service available at Sunway

The Library’s Learning Skills service has expanded to Malaysia, with an adviser appointed to Monash University Sunway Library and Learning Commons.

Dr Joanne Rajadurai will work collaboratively with faculties and librarians and other service providers to develop learning skills services and programs that meet the needs of students. Workshops and classes will be offered, as will drop-in sessions for students. Individual appointments are available for students with referrals and for Higher Degree by Research students.

Learning skills advisers and resources assist students in improving their academic language and approaches to learning including skills in the areas of: study, reading and exam preparation; listening and note-taking in lectures and seminars; oral communication and presentation; analysis, problem-solving and critical thinking; and academic essay, report and thesis writing.

Drop-in sessions, which are brief 10 to 15-minute consultations with the learning skills adviser about an assignment or academic skills, have commenced operation. These sessions run between Week 2 and Week 14. Details of times and locations of drop-in sessions and workshops are available on the Sunway Library and Learning Commons website.
