The refurbished library, occupying the majority of the Ground floor, Manning building, incorporates design features that reflect the technological and creative bent of its users. The library holds 40 computers, including a training room (making 67 computers in total). The library has been rearranged to better separate areas for quiet and group work. The library entrance is from the main corridor via a glass door.

The floor plan is designed to align with the library's Facilities Master Plan, thus meeting the following objectives:

  • clearly delineated noise and quiet areas, often utilising book shelves as noise buffers
  • technology-rich areas that provide computers and printing and copying facilities in one area, close to staff assistance
  • a central 'information zone' where users can find help from staff or access self-help information such as brochures and an electronic noticeboard displaying important  information
  • clear sight-lines to aid navigation.
