Library users survey 2009

"The Library catalogue is easy to use"

What you said: What the Library is doing about it:
Importance: 6.22/7
Performance: 5.16/7
Gap: 1.06

"Catalogue search is really hard to use. I would expect something more intuitive."

"Dimensions of the catalogue search engine could be improved. It often fails to make fairly obvious matches."

"The catalogue, since it has changed, is hopeless it takes ages to log in from home, the search results take ages to load and sometimes results show nothing available when there really is."

"Bring back the old faster catalogue!"

  • We are looking at next generation solutions
The Library has embarked on the Resource Discovery Project to improve the ability of users to find and retrieve material in the Library through the catalogue. We have a team currently examining software solutions to replace the catalogue with a new more intuitive searching tool with faster response time.
  • We are addressing issues with the current version of the catalogue
We are working with the Library system vendor in the meantime to make improvements to our current situation.

"We are strongly committed to enabling users to discover and use information effectively, and we are continually looking at ways we can improve the usability of the catalogue."
