Loans for Monash College students

You can borrow in person from any of the eight campus libraries. Bring your Monash College student ID card to the library. You can also:

  • sign in to Search to:
    • request material to be sent to your home campus (place a 'Hold')
    • renew (reborrow) many items
    • check your current loans via 'My Loans'
  • request an intercampus photocopy

For a summary of your borrowing rights see the borrowing table under the heading 'Undergraduates'.

Renewals

Most items can be reborrowed (renewed)

  • to renew online, sign into Search and use the My Loans function
  • to renew by telephone, phone +61 3 990 55054
  • to renew in person, bring the items to the loans desk of any Monash University Library

Holds

If an item you would like is on loan or on the shelf at a different campus you may place a Hold for it. When it is returned it will be held for you at the loans desk for 7 days only (uncollected items will be returned to the home library). You will also be notified by email, or SMS (for Monash staff, students only) or you can check in 'My Loans' by signing into Search. Please limit concurrent requests to no more than 5 titles. Hold requests can be cancelled if no longer wanted.

Library fines and penalties

Library fines accrue for overdue items for all library users. Avoid fines by:

  • collecting a date due slip when you borrow
  • checking your 'My Loans' by signing into Search and renewing or returning items before due date
  • see making payments for how to pay library fines
