Selected databases relating to Australia and New Zealand

Australia

To select and search across a number of Australian databases select INFORMIT from theĀ  alphabetical list on the databases page. To select appropriate INFORMIT databases to search go to 'databases' then select 'find relevant databases' on the top blue menu bar. Key in a broad subject and each database will be searched for this term.

To search across a number of 'Indigenous studies' databases simultaneously select INFORMIT from the databases page and scroll down to 'Indigenous peoples' - tick the box next to the heading or select databases individually.

  • APAIS : Australian public affairs information service (full text) indexes a wide range of scholarly periodical articles in the humanities and social sciences. APAIS is produced by the National Library of Australia. Subjects covered include Australian current affairs, economics, social, cultural and political affairs, legal literature. Coverage: journal articles, book chapters, conference papers. Start date: 1978.
  • MAIS : multicultural Australia and immigration studies is Australia's major information source for multicultural and immigration issues. Produced by the Office of Multicultural Affairs and the Bureau of Immigration Research. Coverage: journal articles, books, reports, speeches, ministerial statements selective newspaper articles from the English and ethnic press. Start date: 1988.
  • AIATSIS (Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies) annual bibliography prepared in the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies Library (1996-2000). Includes entries for books, articles in books and periodicals, conference papers, manuscripts and theses.
    • Mura® AIATSIS Collections Catalogue the AIATSIS Audiovisual Archives and Library hold the world's premier collections relating to Australian indigenous studies. The AIATSIS Indigenous studies bibliography indexes published and unpublished material. Source documents include journal articles, newspapers, pamphlets, published government reports, published conference papers, book chapters, books, discussion and working papers, and published statistical documents.
  • Indigenous Australia database represents the collections of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission (ASTIC) Library. A bibliographic database which includes abstracts for all videos, and some monographs and articles. Articles are indexed since 1970, books since 1980. Also indexes speeches, conference papers, pamphlets, booklets, ephemera, book chapters, journal and newspaper articles, parliamentary information, bills, explanatory memorandum, parliamentary debates (Hansard) cases, judgements including relevant overseas ones, internet sources, books, reports, theses, conference proceedings on Australian indigenous affairs published 1980 onwards.
  • Australia's religious communities : a multimedia exploration a multimedia interactive CD providing an overview of religion in Australia including census and survey data, a religious timeline, historical and introductory information about the role of religion. For each religion in Australia there is historical and current information about beliefs, worship and practices, statistical data, relevant video clips, geographic distribution, biographies for further reading and more.

New Zealand

  • Index New Zealand (INNZ) - National Library of New Zealand
    INNZ provides citation access to articles in over 300 New Zealand and South Pacific newspaper and journal titles from 1987 to the present. Some pre-1987 items are added retrospectively. Focuses on popular journals, scholarly journals in arts, humanities and social sciences, professional and trade journals and newspapers. Ideal for general and research enquiries
