Selected databases for Australian statistics

• Australian Bureau of Statistics, includes some Census2000 data. This service provides you with the all the standard ABS publications from 1998 onwards in Adobe Acrobat format (.pdf), multidimensional datasets in SuperTABLE format and Census Basic Community Profiles to the Collection District (CD) level in Excel spreadsheet format. Over 90,000 time series are included in over 2,000 spreadsheets. Some topics covered are: crime and justice, demography, education, finance, environment, health, indigenous statistics, international trade, labour market, national accounts, population and migration, social statistics, tourism, transport, welfare and social services. Some Reserve Bank of Australia and OECD data is also included in the Time Series section. AusStats is updated daily.

  • CData96 with Mapinfo professional : census 1996 (available at the Matheson Library information desk) provides all available tables from the 1996 Census with highly sophisticated mapping software. Data can be imported for mapping.
